Colin Spain
General Manager
Colin Spain received his Bachelor’s degree from St. Anselm College in 2015 and went right to work. Prior to Joining the JH Spain, Colin spent several years in the plumbing & heating supply and architectural metals industries, which prepared him well for a career in the construction business. The decision to bring his enthusiasm and experience to the family business in 2020 was an easy one.
Today, Colin applies his strategic planning skills and serves as General Manager of JH Spain. He combines his signature sense of humor with his deftness in project planning, permitting, and contracts, making him an effective executive manager.
Colin’s growing family includes a daughter and a very vocal husky. In the community, his work for the Capital City Holiday Food Basket Program started in 2013 and continues to this day along with supporting other nonprofits in Greater Concord.
Meghann Spain-Hoban
Project Manager
A passionate career in education couldn’t keep Meghann away from the family business. Her team-oriented attitude, can-do spirit, and relentless work-ethic apply the organizational & motivational mindset of an educator in a methodical approach to project management that ensures timeliness, transparency, and clear communication.
Now focusing on the managed growth of the company through project management, Meghann leads our teams in the field. She has an unwavering commitment to our clients, subcontractor partners and suppliers to assure that projects stay on time and within budget.
Meghann’s outside interests include spending time with family, traveling with her husband, running and volunteering. Meghann’s commitment to the Capital City Holiday Food Basket Program started in 2013, and after 8 years of service, she joined the board in 2021.
Joe Spain
President & Founder
Anyone who has known and worked with Joe Spain will likely have kind words to share about him. Joe founded JH Spain in 1983 and still serves as a senior project director, bringing energy, ingenuity and wisdom to both the job sites and the office. His uncompromising dedication to quality and craftsmanship are, in part, a legacy of his father, once respected as one of the region’s best sign painters.
Now, Joe has the privilege of supporting the next generation of company leaders by remaining active on the management team and in the field. Driven by his faith and family values, building relationships in the business and nonprofit communities has always been and continues to be a strong suit for Joe.
Roy Poliquin
Project Supervisor
Roy brings a wealth of experience in fine carpentry, intricate millwork, and the delicate craft of stair building to the JH Spain team. Roy applies over 30 years of experience as both a tradesman and project manager to bring priceless knowledge to the jobsite. Roy employs his comprehensive understanding of both modern construction and historical preservation to every project.
Much of Roy’s recent work has been concentrated in the medical industry where complex mechanical and safety systems pose unique construction challenges. His skill set has proven to be extremely valuable for some of our healthcare clients.
As both a craftsman and senior team leader, Roy helps bring out the best in some of our younger talent as he continually inspires others to build on what they learn, both on and off the job site.
In his spare time, Roy is in his workshop, or at the range. He enjoys the shooting sports, including long-range marksmanship. He also likes to relax in his boat on our nearby lakes.
Danielle Reese
Business Development & Project Manager
After finishing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services/Public Administration from Franklin Pierce College, Danielle enjoyed a successful decade in project management at Concord Hospital/Capital Region Healthcare. While serving as Facility Project Manager at Concord Hospital, she was taking advantage of numerous organizational development courses and completing ASHE and LEAN certifications. While there, she worked with stakeholders, architects, engineers and contractors to assure that all project objectives were met according to strict quality and code standards. Prior to joining JH Spain, Danielle was with The Duprey Companies as a project manager, implementing the Property Developer’s plans in multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
With her extensive experience, Danielle was poised to join the JH Spain team. Here she has played a key role in project planning, development, scheduling, coordination, and communications. Currently Danielle leads the business development efforts, helping to ensure that JH Spain’s messages reach the right audiences, convey authentic value, and help grow the business.
Danielle’s personal interests include travelling, gardening and working on home renovations with her family.
Emily Fish
Accounting Manager
Emily Fish is the glue that keeps things together and the oil that keeps operations running smoothly at JH Spain. Since 2008, Emily has worked in the banking, healthcare, paving and construction industries, bringing many years of diverse experience to JH Spain. She has an Associates Degree in Accounting from Mount Washington College.
In her administrative support and management roles, she has become an expert in coordinating fast-paced construction activities. Emily brings the calm, confident demeanor that every high energy environment needs and serves as a vital link between work in the field and the goings on at “HQ.”
Outside of JH Spain, Emily is a mom that enjoys camping, spending time on the lake, as well as making memories with her two children and family.
Sean Petersen
Administrative Assistant
Sean holds a degree in English & Philosophy and a master’s in childhood education. He also an archery instructor, which is what led him to JH Spain. While work was being performed at Camp Tohkomeupog in Madison, NH Sean became familiar with JH Spain’s work and became interested. Using his varied skillset, Sean brings a detail-oriented, organized, meticulous approach to his work. He assists the front office team with various tasks, integrating programs, managing data and streamlining work processes.
In his free time, Sean is a theatre performer and enjoys pretending that he’s a triple threat. He is also a published author and composes music when he is feeling creative. He loves biology and the outdoors and is trying his best to become a better cook.
Tom Sampson
Project Manager/Estimator
Tom Sampson received his bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University with a concentration in Business and Project Management. He is a 10-year Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in multiple campaign phases of the Iraq War. He always strives to persevere through any challenge with a positive attitude and a smile on his face.
Now applying his skills to Project Managing and Estimating, Tom is proving to be a great team builder and communicator. He helps ensure that clients and contractors get the best representation and clear direction on their projects. His desire to continually learn and strive for excellence is well aligned with JH Spain’s mission of timely and excellent customer service.
Tom’s outside interests include spending time with his 5 children and wife. He enjoys hiking, and exercising at the Concord YMCA is a daily dedication for keeping fit and healthy.
Joe Jackson
Project Manager
Joe Jackson is a family man with a long history in construction. He started out in the building trades when he was a teenager, working for a contractor in Concord during summer breaks. After high school he went on to join the US Army as a Combat Engineer, was stationed in Germany and did a tour in the Iraq War. Upon exiting the Army, Joe went back into construction as a carpenter working on major residential renovations and new construction. After a several years of on-the-job training, he went to college and received a bachelor’s in project management with a minor in building construction technologies.
Joe uses his education and experience to manage and supervise projects of all sizes. He puts emphasis on customer service and building solid relationships along the way.
When Joe is away from work, he enjoys spending time with his 4 children, coaching sports, date nights with his wife and fitness workouts.
Leonardo Morel
Project Supervisor
Leonardo Morel’s experience includes starting and running his own company of 30 employees providing materials and services to clients, including various government agencies. His bachelor’s degree in business administration focused on innovation, research and marketing.
Leonardo brings his skill, experience and love of learning to his project management, scheduling and job site work. His excellence in communication skills helps bring quality and efficiency to the forefront of his projects. Leonardo’s commitment to his teams, continuing education and providing exceptional client services is in perfect step with Joe Spain’s original and continuing mission.
When he isn’t working, Leonardo can be found at the gym or simply being with his family.
Matthew Day
Project Supervisor
Matthew has been working in the construction industry since 2014, when he worked at a small lumber company, while earning his Associate’s Degree in Construction Technology in 2016. He gained on the job experience while working for a small contractor specializing in vinyl siding and exterior renovations.
At JH Spain, Matthew continues to hone his carpentry skills while also working to bring effective communication, quality, and ingenuity as a Project Supervisor. Recognizing these attributes JH Spain has assigned Matthew to several healthcare facility projects in which his experience and skillset has been of great value in medical facility build outs.
When Matthew isn’t working or spending time with his family you may find him woodworking in his shop. He strives for excellence in his crafts and commits to bringing those same values to his career.
Josh Sullivan
Project Lead/Carpenter
Josh’s 12 years with JH Spain show his commitment to the values and mission of the company. His specialized expertise in framing, carpentry and attention to detail are evident on a number of noteworthy projects throughout New Hampshire.
As a veteran, having served in the Marines, Josh can lead or follow and brings his integrity to every assignment.
Josh is also a gentleman farmer and ATV enthusiast, frequently out on snowmobiles or 4 wheelers with his little boy.
Derek Letendre
Site Supervisor
After many years working in construction, Derek brings a commitment to process improvement, safety and best practices to every project. He is an efficient communicator with an eye for detail. His understanding and experience working with and coordinating the work of all trades on a project, complimented by a varied skillset as a builder and a manager makes Derek a valuable asset to the JH Spain team.
When not at work, Derek spends time with his young daughter indoor rock climbing or hiking.
John Camp
Project Manager
John is pursuing his MBA through UNH Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics and will be wrapping up his degree in 2025. His career consists of 19 years in construction, 11 of which are from a construction management position specializing in $1M-$25M projects.
As a valuable member of the JH Spain team, he continues to grow and prove his dedication to his work through planning and executing quality work. He is a stellar communicator with the clients and contractors and mentor to his crews. He is passionate about the building industry and believes in the value of team-building. 

John enjoys spending time with his wife and friends outdoors along with his two dogs.
